The PAMAN system
The PAMAN system is our award-winning medication monitoring system, using two-way video to connect our pharmacy technicians to patients as they take their medicines.
Our average medication adherence is 97% compared with the national average of just 50%
MONITORING MEDICATION
We ensure the patient can self-administer if appropriate. We teach people to use injections and inhalers effectively and monitor them to make sure they continue to self-administer properly.
We monitor patients using insulin and taking clozapine, providing assurance on the safe use of high-risk drugs.
Clinicians can be confident the patient is taking the drug as prescribed, therefore if they aren’t improving, it’s not down to adherence.
STREAMLINING SERVICES
We have demonstrated the benefit of PAMAN support in a cohort of frequent flyers. We:
- Identify and resolve problems early
- Help manage adverse effects
- Give patients a regular contact to discuss their treatment and confidence in their treatment
Our services reduces the demand on NHS services, freeing up general practice capacity, and community nurses who don’t have to visit a patient multiple times a day.
IMPROVING OUTCOMES
Provides feedback and understanding of issues to the clinicians.
- By removing the issue of adherence, the clinician can judge the effectiveness of the treatment
- We are in regular contact with the patient and pick up on issues as they emerge
- We can collect and collate clinical information
Patient setup
Almost everyone can use PAMAN.
Patients who aren’t in our area (NW England) receive their equipment by post. We call the patient to make sure they can set it up, and then we talk them through our processes. Some patients take to it straight away and others need additional support.
Service setup
Our Monitors are registered pharmacy technicians, supported by clinical pharmacists.
We work to SOPs and our calls to patients are recorded. We constantly review the performance of our team to make sure they are clinically competent, but also that they are able to engage with the patients.
When a patient is taken on, we need to know what other medication they are taking so we can make sure they’re taking all the right medicines, and check for interactions or potential side effects.
Bespoke service delivery
Every service that is commissioned from us is bespoke
Our core service involves regular video contact with patients, but how we use that contact varies according to the needs of our clients. We work with you to agree details, required outcomes, and KPIs. Most services provide daily and ongoing contact with patients, others are fixed-term support or on-line training.
Our services can be delivered at the scale you need and put in place quickly.

Feedback
“The calls are really helping, she’s taking her meds and insulin on calls means she has not missed a dose or taken them twice.. blood sugars better than they were before she started with PAMAN and she feels better, plus enjoys a little chat”
Feedback
“I was a bit sporadic with my meds, either not enough or too much, and a couple of times in A&E when I’d taken too many. I’d highly recommend the service. It’s enabled me to take my medication at the right time, both morning and night. I feel so much better, I’ve really felt the benefit.”
